Modern Depression

American culture and society's change from another "great depression" would vary greatly from what was observed in the 1930's. I do not think it would be right to say another "great depression" will never happen, but the likeliness is far to low to be considered. Our government has to many trade, and economical policies in place to prevent this from ever happening again, but certainly a time of intense crisis could provoke another depression. Me and my fainly would have to make sacrifices, along with the rest of the pubic, we would have to cut back frivolous spending, and spend more time at home. If my dad lost his company certainly times would be hard, all unneeded spending and waste of money would have to stop, as well as some of the many comforts we are all familiar with today. A 21st century depression would be very different from that of the 1930's, i agree completely with everything the author is saying. TV, and cheep entertainment will become something everyone will be accustomed to. The author had such good insight on this topic, and i believe, highly accurately describes the country condition, in a well written comparative sense, if a 21st century Great Depression was to occur.

Should Americans give up freedoms they are entitled during wartime?

I believe so, especial if the was is as grand as WWI. The war effort could be in vein if there are citizens who don't participate in it. Especial when it comes to use of vital supplies such as Metal, Gasoline, Food, and clean drinking water. Americans who stay in the states during wartime should expect an extreme limitation of freedoms and rights, to reduce death, and improve the comfort of our solders who risk their lives daily fighting on the front lines.

Today, the 25th January 1898, The U.S.S Maine was intentional attacked, and destroyed by the Spanish. The U.S.S Maine was stationed in Havana harbor, Cuba, when it was wrongfully attacked by the ruthless Spanish. Over two hundred and fifty of our own American solders were killed today. This calls for immediate retaliation, we must show other, more volatile, and primitive countries that we are the best, and strongest. "Remember the Maine, to hell with Spain!" is what you hear throughout the streets. We say this is immediate priority and should fight back, and make Spain pay!
